Founded in 1912 by William D’arcy Cathcart, the practice is Zimbabwe’s longest established firm. Several earlier buildings are still familiar landmarks in the city of Harare, such as the Supreme Court, the Town House, and Livingstone House. The partners have extensive Design and Project Management experience both in Southern Africa and abroad. Two of our most significant recent projects are the internationally acclaimed Eastgate, Zimbabwe’s largest shopping and office complex, with its pioneering passive cooling and, Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, a large integrated health facility in north-west Zimbabwe.
Our design experience includes buildings of every type including for education and science, health care, leisure and worship, commercial banks, office, industrial and residential developments, retail shops and restaurants as well as interior design.
“We believe in and promote architecture that is appropriate to and sustainable in our natural & social African environment and which works within the constraints & strengths of local resources”.
